The GDF SUEZ Company originated in 2008 by merging two companies: Gaz de France, operating in the gas industry, and SUEZ, focusing on power industry and environment.
GDF SUEZ is a modern group, which represents European and world top in all their business activities. The GDF SUEZ Company is the largest power company in Europe: the biggest electric power producer in Belgium, the second biggest electric power producer in France, the biggest natural gas consumer and distributor in Europe, and one of the leaders in the environment sector.
In more than 100 countries all over the world there are over 196,000 employees of the group and their subsidiaries in all sorts of sectors.
In 2008 their turnover reached over € 74 billion (in CZK 1,916 billion). The GDF SUEZ stocks are one of the most marketed stocks in the Paris Stock Exchange and they are a part of the CAC - 40 index.
The annual turnover in 2008 in the environment sector (Suez Environnement) was € 12 billion (in CZK 318 billion), when 1% of this was given to the applied aquiculturing research.
